At ~mainers, we are focused on the organic side of roleplaying with an emphasis on character development and interactions. Pre-planned storylines can be fun, but they tend to hinder interaction and creativity. We want characters to interact with each other and develop organic connections. Of course, we want you to have connections for your character like family, co-workers, exes, etc, so they can feel less alone and thrive, but we also want you to have your character interact outside of those pre-planned lines. Pre-planned storylines can be fun, but we want to have an environment where storylines are developed organically by your character as well.
Creative exploration is important! We want you to imagine your character and the possibilities for creating an open and inviting community. Whether they were a Portland native who is just returning from a yearlong sabbatical abroad, a wandering spirit who stayed too long and now finds themselves stuck, an estranged relative returning home to deal with unsettling business, the options are endless. Our intention is have slow, controlled growth, so we will be processing 10 applications max per round of adds. We aim to keep our community tightknit and the fpage not overwhelming, so everyone can feel like they are able to keep up and receive interactions. when applying: backdate your info post, make sure the comments are screened for your ooc contact, and backdate your ic spam page. In addition to backdating your posts, they need to be friends locked and anonymous comments disabled. your userinfo must be visible so we can see whether your flist is updated for activity checks. If we cannot see your flist, your application will be denied. Please clear your friends list. Journal names can be ic or ooc, but they must relate to your character in some way. Please disclose to the mods who else you play if you are applying to have more than (1) character in game. If we catch wind of people breaking this rule, you will be removed. in lieu of examples, we will be looking at the quality of your bio. It isn't about whether we like your character. We want to know you know them, and we want to clearly feel like we know who they are. Please provide at least (3) paragraphs or (5) detailed major life facts about your character for their bio as well as at least (1) paragraph about their personality or a detailed list of traits. Your character's dob and occupation must be listed as well. Journal names: Again, they can be ic or ooc, but they need to relate to your character somehow. No excessive use of x's, numbers, underscores, etc. Journal names will be seen as social media handles and viewable ic. PBs: we will not allow challenges for faces. we must be able to google search your played-by easily, and their age must be realistic to their real-life age following the +/- 5 year rule. Rejected applications: we do reserve the right to deny any application we feel wouldn't be a good fit, based on any reason we find, without explanation. That being said, if we feel your character would be a good fit and the issues spotted are minor, we will reach out to offer an opportunity to fix. Activity: (2) forms of activity are required per month. One must be interactive and you must respond to the majority of comments in a timely manner. What counts as activity? Narratives, scenes, journal posts of 250+ words, moodboards, ig posts, etc. Coding is pretty and nice, but if you’re not a coding wizard, we won’t hold it against you as long as you're making an effort. There are plenty of templates out there nowadays. If you love coding and pretty things, go for it. What does not count towards activity? One liners and lyric posts without any additional writing.Messenger apps: the use of messengers is not permitted for in character activity. we want the focus to be on community interaction, and with messaging apps, things are too private and limit interaction. obviously there is no real way to enforce this, but if we catch wind of people breaking this rule, we will give you a warning before removing you. Overrides will be permitted if a member fails to comply with any of the following rules: failing to meet activity requirements, keeping their friends list up to date weekly, and cleaning out their journal. all rules are subject to change, any questions should be directed to the contact post in the mod journal. |
